4080 Magazine masthead

As a freelance writer, I’ve been included in online and offline magazines including the now defunct 4080 Magazine.

I’ve interviewed over thirty individuals and groups, especially music artists and filmmakers. Past interviews have included politically-active rap group The Coup, the Grammy Award-winning group Arrested Development, controversial Notorious B.I.G. proteges Junior M.A.F.I.A., Jamaican dancehall artist Super Cat, political activisit Kwame Toure (nee, Stokely Carmichael), et al. I’ve also had music reviews, commentary and essays published.

In 1989 I had an essay published in the Black Studies Journal, an academic journal from San Francisco State University. I’ve also edited several journals, and served as a contributing writer in offline and online magazines, including an essay that was inclused in the online salon of the Museum of the African Diaspora called the “I’ve Known Rivers Project” (http://www.iveknownrivers.org).
